Water Treatment Plant
urban flood control
The Minot Water Treatment Plant serves water resources to communities throughout the entire region. During the 2011 flood the water was contaminated and forced all users to boil their water. Because of the significant service this facility provides, the City of Minot determined this project to be the first priority in the development of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project.
Because this is an independent utility project the funding was provided through other resources including FEMA's Hazard Mitigation Grant Program (75%), the City of Minot (15%), and the State of North Dakota (10%).
The groundbreaking for the Water Treatment Plant Flood Protection Project was held September 2015, and construction was completed in the fall of 2017.
