Changes to 6th Avenue NE Intersection Closures and Alternate Traffic Flow

Minot, ND – August 16, 2024 – As part of the ongoing efforts to improve the infrastructure and flood protection measures in Minot, 8th Street NE will be closed to traffic as shown on the updated 2024 Construction Zone Map. The intersection at 6th Avenue NE and 8th Street NE needs to remain closed to through traffic for further work on the project and anticipate the East-West intersection will open to traffic on September 6th. There are additional traffic flow changes due to the start of Minot Public Schools and continued work on the project.

Access to Roosevelt school will be impacted by this closure. A one-way traffic flow was developed to have traffic turn south onto 8th street NE from 8th Avenue NE, and turn west on to 7th Avenue NE. During school hours, 7th Avenue NE is closed to through traffic to allow the playground south of 7th Avenue to be used during the school day.

See the attached 2024 Construction Zone Map outlining the proposed detour route. During this period, access to local businesses and residences will be maintained. Signage will be in place to guide motorists through the detour routes and ensure smooth traffic flow around the construction zone.
