Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP) MI-2 Construction Will Temporarily Impact Rec

Minot, N.D. – Starting this week, there will be several impacts to recreational facilities in the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP) MI-2 Napa Valley phase construction area,

The Dakota Bark Park will be moved to a temporary location for the duration of the MI-2 project, which is expected to be completed in 2020. The new location is directly across 7th Avenue SW from the current location. Access will be provided to the existing location’s north parking area.

The pedestrian path along the existing levee from the Highway 83 Bypass to 16th Street SW will be closed immediately. The Minot Trails map can be found at minotparks.com/trails to locate alternate routes.

Wee Links golf course will remain open through the summer of 2018. Construction on this area of the levee will begin in the fall of 2018 closing the course until the spring of 2020.

Several temporary greens and tees were previously constructed at the Souris Valley Golf Course to ensure the playability of all 18 holes throughout the construction timeframe. No impacts to the course are anticipated.

Access to the facilities on the north side of the river will be available via the Highway 83 Bypass or 7th Avenue SW.

Safety is always a priority, so the Souris River Joint Board and its’ contractors ask that you remain vigilant near the construction zones. Construction areas will be fenced, requiring that the public keep out of these areas. Additionally, there will be significant heavy equipment working in the construction areas and the roadways surrounding them, so caution should be used around these construction zones.
