Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP) Announces Temporary Closure of 2nd Ave SW
Minot, N.D. – As work continues on Phase MI-2A (Perkett Ditch Improvements) of the Mouse River Enhanced Flood Protection Project (MREFPP), a road closure has been scheduled to accommodate the installation of a new box culvert under 2nd Avenue SW.
Beginning Thursday, April 20th, 2nd Avenue SW from Westfield Circle to 24th Street SW will be closed to through traffic. A detour will be in place to route traffic along 18th Street SW to West Central Avenue and over to 25th Street SW. Residents in the area will have local access to their property. The roadway is scheduled to re-open in mid June.
This phase of the MREFPP focuses on interior drainage improvements to manage the storm water runoff on the dry side of the proposed levees. The project scope includes improvements to the existing Perkett Ditch, storm sewer upgrades within 2nd Ave SW, and the construction of a regional detention/retention pond, which was substantially completed last year.
Safety is always a priority so please be vigilant near the construction zone. Leach Park is intended to remain open throughout construction.
